šŸ’¾ Get involved with BMFSDB

2025-02-16

Hello there!

In case you missed it, Train Songz is using zine proceeds to pay BMFSDB’s web fees. Our relationship goes back to December 2023, when they shared all their setlist data with me upon a cold email, which really enhanced the zine’s number-crunching capabilities. (I copy and pasted setlists by hand for the first zine! This data-sharing agreement is a much better alternative, and allows us to go back in time and do some funky analysis!)

Going into 2025 and confident that the zine would make money this year, I reached out to BMFSDB to help with their web fees (I’m budgeting $1500 per year) and community organizing (like this!) in exchange for ā€œPowered By Train Songzā€ on the bottom of their site.

My dad always told me us Italians liked to donate and see our name on things… Looks like I’m a-guilty as a-charged.

BMFSDB set up shop as a passion project out of Reddit and the Billycord over three years ago, went offline in November 2024, and came back online shortly thereafter in December 2024. Since then, the small & mighty (but growing!) team behind it is breathing new life into lately! Check out these latest product updates. And dark mode is coming soon…

BMFSDB is and always has been a setlist database by the community, for the community, and with that in mind…I have a few very cool opportunities to get involved and make an impact!

They are looking for developers

If you’d like to get involved on the web development side of things, please fill out the linked form and they’ll be in touch. They are looking for developers of all experience levels:

They are doing a logo contest!

It’s time to refresh BMFSDB’s logo, and they want the community to take the lead. The community will both submit logos and vote on finalists. Deadline is the end of March, and if you’re interested, there’s much more information in the linked document. More info on their social media as well.

Other ideas?

If you have other ideas of how you might help, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at conductor@trainsongz.net and I can get you in touch.

Should be a fun one in Asheville tonight…
